No prior video editing experience or equipment is needed.

    • Week 1 – Music Video Creation
In week one, students will create their own dance music video from start to finish. They’ll learn the basics of filmmaking, develop choreography designed for the camera, and participate in capturing the movement. The week wraps with editing their footage into a polished final video. They will learn to utilize angles, space, and shapes in their work and discover how those elements translate to film.

The week concludes with editing their final piece into a creative, story-driven video.

    • Note: If dancers have their phones, they are welcome to use them to film their work. This allows for extra flexibility in capturing angles and practicing filming techniques independently. If they do not have access to a phone, they will be paired with someone else who does, so they can still experience what it’s like to film! Bringing a notebook and pen is highly encouraged!

  • Create. Film. Edit. (Two-Week Dance & Film Camp - Weeks 9 & 10): Dancers may enroll in one or both weeks and walk away with something truly inspiring! Whether taking one week or both, participants will gain skills in technique, creativity, and film production, culminating in a personalized performance they can be proud of. While each week is designed to stand alone, taking both allows dancers to follow a single piece of choreography from the first improv session through to the final edited film. No prior video editing experience or equipment is needed.

    • Week 1 – Technique, Movement Exploration, and Choreography
This week focuses on movement exploration and improvisation. Collaborating as a group, dancers will blend guided improv and class phrases with their own creative ideas to build original choreography. Through led explorations, they will learn to utilize angles, space, and shapes in their work and discover how those elements translate to film.

    • Week 2 – Filming, Editing, and Creative Production
In the second week, dancers bring their choreography to life on screen! They will explore camera angles, framing, and movement for film, then learn basic editing techniques to create a polished video of their work. This week emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and storytelling through dance and video, giving each dancer the opportunity to showcase their unique vision.

    • Note: If dancers have their phones, they are welcome to use them to film their work during Week 2. This allows for extra flexibility in capturing angles and practicing filming techniques independently. Bringing a notebook and pen is highly encouraged!
