🩰 Adult Introduction to Pointe Work

Finally… it’s time to live out that childhood dream!

Come join Yukie Fujimoto and discover what it takes to dance en pointe… from breaking in your shoes to building the strength and confidence to get up on those toes!

This 6 week series is for adult dancers who have at least two consecutive years of training in ballet. This series will cover how to break in your shoes, how to tie your shoes correctly, how to build strength to go up on pointe and build up pelvic floor/leg/core muscles through weekly in class sessions and consistent practice in your home kitchen. *It is advised to purchase pointe shoes through a reputable store that fits shoes specific to your feet. Please have ribbons and elastic pre-sewn before class begins.

  • Fridays, September 11, 18, 25 & October 2, 9, 16 (six consecutive weeks)

  • 9:00am - 9:55am

  • $120 ($20 per class)

Registration is for the entire short. No prorating. No drop-in or class cards accepted.

TEACHING ARTIST - YUKIE FUJIMOTO

Yukie Fujimoto earned her BA in English from the UC Berkeley, and went on to receive a graduate fellowship at UC Irvine, where she completed her MFA in Dance Choreography. She was a senior company member with ODC/Dance and served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Dance at Mills College.

Throughout her career, Yukie has performed a wide range of roles, including Cinderella in David Allan’s Cinderella, Ulysses Dove’s Vespers, Brenda Way’s Part of a Longer Story, and KT Nelson’s Walk Before Talk. She was also nominated for an Isadora Duncan Dance Award for her performances in Sonya Delwaide’s Apero and Letter á Jos.

Currently, Yukie is the Board Co-Chair of Luna Dance and Creativity. She is thrilled to be part of the Joy in Motion community, where she supports dancers in exploring identity, embodiment, creative possibility, and expressive movement.
